Cashmyer’s mother Jessica announced her daughter’s death on Sunday on the Facebook account of her late husband Dennis M. Cashmyer Jr.
“My oldest beloved daughter Jordan passed away, she was only 26 years old,” the post reads. “Our hearts are really broken. No parent should ever have to lose a child, EVER.”
A spokesman for the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed to CNN Cashmyer’s death but gave no reason.
Cashmyer appeared on the series with her then-boyfriend Derek Taylor in 2014. The couple were struggling with homelessness at the time after Cashmyer was asked by her parents to leave her childhood home because she refused to stop seeing Taylor.
According to Variety, Cashmyer and Taylor split shortly after their segment aired. She gave birth to their daughter Evie and has since battled drug addiction, culminating in a 2017 arrest for drug possession.
This month, Cashmyer shared a Facebook post inviting friends to join her as she celebrated a year of sobriety.
MTV spinoff show Teenage mother shared condolences via twitter.
A Cashmyer rep told E! News: “This is an incredibly sad day. Jordan was a sweet and caring person,” he shared. “When we last spoke, she was fine and seemed to be in a good place mentally and physically. I wish people had the opportunity to get to know them beyond their struggles. I’ve always rooted for her and I’m grateful that I’ve had the chance to meet and work with her over the years.”
He added, “Life hasn’t always been kind to her, so now she can be at peace.”
