An astrological prediction for 2022

According to psychological astrologer Jennifer Freed, 2022 will be an opportunity for re-evaluation, repair, and rapid expansion. Neptune, the planet connected with compassion, will be in connection with Jupiter, the planet connected with abundance. We need to use the energies of these planets wisely, says Freed.

Astrological themes to expect in the new year

Even in this polarized moment when the clash of belief systems can create great rifts that separate families and communities, we shouldn’t forget to celebrate our freedom to speak our own truths; 2022 will be the year in which we personally, socially and collectively decide how to make full use of this freedom.

Neptune will be associated with Jupiter in Pisces and will offer a quick expansion of compassion, empathy, and forgiveness.

Sharpshooters, malicious gossip, and the ruthless use of hatred to keep people in their place have polluted social media and fragmented our communities, promoting the notion that we are indeed apart and doomed to be at war with one another. That is the lie that needs to be dismantled in 2022.

Behind all attacks and reactions are unprocessed pain and trauma. In 2022 we are called to heal the causes of the ubiquitous idea that we are against one another. This begins with making trauma-informed care more accessible to all and creating opportunities for healing community discussions.

Are you part of the vanguard of love or are you a soldier in the battle of fear? Do you strive to uplift others or crush those with whom you disagree? With an effort we can all explore the ways in which we separated our belonging and begin to restore the broken trust in our hearts and communities. This cycle will invite all of us to reevaluate how we spend our precious time.

Do you waste yourself in situations or relationships that no longer serve you or even harm you, or are you using your energy to nurture bonds and belonging? We will have the opportunity to support programs, policies and practices that are most needed and most neglected. There will be even greater appreciation of healers and caregivers, as well as new alternative and conventional breakthrough therapies.

We will also see an explosion in the creative arts and events that bring people together in gothic ways. New and more diverse voices will have access to public platforms.

There will be an increased focus on spirituality, magic, channeling and psychological phenomena. We will benefit from even more evidence and awareness of our unity as a world community.

The awkward side of this planetary conjunction will also be seen. As more and more people experience a burning desire to be out of the body and out of the conventional modes, they can be seduced into addictions, excesses, false prophecies, and scams. In 2022, ask yourself: Do I use spirituality and sacred medicines to deepen my connection with earth and others, or do I spend too much time fleeing and checking out?

Water will also be of tremendous importance as Pisces is a watermark ruled by the oceanic Neptune. We will create solutions for water scarcity and deal with climatic water events.

With Uranus in Aquarius squared Saturn in Taurus, 2022 will also be a year of escalating tensions between the old guard and zealous radicals of every ideology.

We have to deal with the dark side of capitalism, which has led to countless people being excluded from private and privileged institutions and services – and the depressing narrative that more and faster are always better.

Better is better and enough is enough.

The fantasy of unlimited growth is founded on reality. It is up to us to choose to switch rather than face the consequences of unbridled abundance. Do you enjoy what you have? Is your generosity as great as your consumption? Can you put quality before quantity? Who or what can help you achieve your sustainable lifestyle?

More people who have had enough of what they really need will stabilize both matter and spirit. Everyone does better and is less threatened when we have fewer people in desperate situations. Where we fail to understand and respond to the pain in our communities, we will see intense reactionary outcomes, including eruptive violence and other rifts. There will also be earth-based events such as quakes, volcanic eruptions, and extreme climate events that will require all of us to work side by side for the benefit of our entire species.

The tension between Saturn (collective karma) and Uranus (rebellion) will prompt us to examine where we have tried to suppress rather than listen, and will make the consequences of using violence increasingly clear instead of investing in deeper care.
