For a good period of time, Emily Blunt and Michael Bublé were very much in love.
The pair dated for three years after meeting backstage at one of the ‘Haven’t Met You Yet’ singer’s concerts back in 2005. During that time, they appeared alongside each other at several red carpet events and shows before calling it quits in 2008.
Their relationship didn’t always look like a love story. With cheating rumours circulating both before and after their split, fans were left with several questions unanswered.

Why did Michael Bublé and Emily Blunt break up?
While Blunt initially avoided questions about the breakup, Michael Buble provided a bit more insight into the end of their relationship. Speaking with ET Canada in 2015, Buble explained that it ended because the two of them simply weren’t a good fit. “Emily is a beautiful and loving person, and I’m grateful for the time I had with her, for the relationship,” he said.
“Without [our relationship], I wouldn’t have had a chance to fall in love with myself enough to be with a woman like my wife. It didn’t end because of cheating. It ended because we weren’t right for each other, and we are now exactly where we’re supposed to be in our lives.”
That same year, Blunt declined to comment on what led to their breakup, telling Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show that the whole situation is “complicated.”
“You were perfect together,” Stern told Blunt at the time, to which she replied, laughing, “I don’t know if I was perfect with him, but we had a good time.”
When Stern later asked about the cheating rumours, Blunt simply replied, “I never want to talk about it.”
How long did Michael Bublé and Emily Blunt date?
Bublé and Blunt were committed to each other for a good three years, so you can imagine how hard it would have been for both of them after their split.
Two months after they parted ways, Bublé had nothing but nice things to say about his ex, admitting he still cries over their breakup.

“Emily was a substantial person and amazing still,” the pop singer told Entertainment Tonight Canada in a 2008 TV interview. “Top girl. Top class.”
“In my business, it’s tough to go out with another artist because you’re never together,” he added. “You’re lucky if you can see the person once every two to three months, and with Em, she was on her movies and I was doing my thing so it made it more difficult.
“I’ll go home and I’ll curl up in a ball and I’ll cry. I’m not kidding. I’ll just cry.”
What did Michael Bublé do to Emily Blunt?
More like what Michael Bublé didn’t do. Less than a year prior to their breakup in 2008, a woman came forward with photos of Bublé both shirtless and asleep, plus Bublé images of herself posing with the singer, claiming she’d been in a sexual relationship with Bublé for 10 years.
“Michael is a cheater and a rat,” the woman told the Globe tabloid. “We’ve made mad, passionate love a couple of times since he and Emily have been together. The last time was August 17 in the apartment they share in Vancouver.”
While Bublé shut down the rumours that infidelity was the reason for their breakup, he did admit to being “a jerk” to the Devil Wears Prada star.
“I was careless and reckless with the hearts of women I was with. And I got my karma. I earned it. I got my butt and heart kicked and it hurt me enough that I looked in the mirror and I didn’t want it to happen again,” he told Canadian show eTalk in 2015.

“I think everyone looks back at some of the things we did and it’s so cringy how I acted. I learned about myself, I got closer to being spiritual and learned to be in the moment and realise how short life is. It changed everything.”
In fact, Bublé spoke about the breakup quite often. In a 2011 interview, he said the relationship ended “through both of us being young and naive and making silly mistakes.” He admitted that he “f–ked up” and that he was “devastated” when it was over.
What songs did Michael Bublé write about Emily Blunt?
Bublé wrote his 2007 track ‘Everything’ about Blunt.
He sings “You play it coy, but it’s kinda cute / Oh, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do / Baby don’t pretend, that you don’t know it’s true’ / Cause you can see it when I look at you / And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times / It’s you, it’s you, you make me sing / You’re every line, you’re every word, you’re everything.”
Upon the release of his album, Call Me Irresponsible, Bublé said of the song: “I wrote the song about the great happiness of real love, but at the same time I was making a statement about the world. We’re living in really crazy times, and I wanted to say that no matter what’s happening, this person in my life is what really makes it worthwhile.”
